Project Work
Fair trade: a comparison of Mediterranean and British model
The project “DREAMING A LANGUAGE IMMERSION EXPERIENCE ABROAD” has been carried out by students of different high schools of Lecce: eight pupils from “Antonietta De Pace”, seven pupils from “Pietro Siciliani”, one pupil from Liceo Classico “Virgilio” and one pupil from Liceo Artistico Statale.
Our project began on May 29th 2006. We attended a course of 100 hours of lessons for improving our linguistic and communicative skills, for acquiring project work principles and techniques, for planning and preparing a project work about. “Fair Trade: A comparison of Mediterranean and British model". After this preparation we went to London on stage. We left on July 29th, stayed there for sixteen days and came back on August 13th.
In London we visited stores, supermarkets, fairtrade city boroughs,we interviewed consumers to realize how involved British people are in choosing fair trade products when shopping. We compared the results of our research in London to what we had studied about the mediterranean model
All this thanks to the help of many teachers and experts: Mr. Carlo Mileti (Member of CTM - ONLUS in Lecce); Mrs. Margaret Brayford who developed the linguistic aspects; Mrs. Joyce Amato who helped us during our stage in London and Mr. Marco Longo, the excellent Web analist and consultant who supported us to create this website about our project. And last but not least our project tutor, Ms Bruna Morena.
We carried out this project by making researches and surveys on Fair Trade both in Lecce and in London and by processing all data.
the results of our research have been presented both in London to experts and in Lecce on the occasion of the opening on August 19th of a new World Shop "Made in Dignity"
This is the first time a project like this has been made in Lecce and financed by the European Community, the FSE and M.I.U.R.
We enjoyed this experience a lot especially because our point of view on World Trade has changed a lot.
LET’S MAKE TRADE FAIR!!!
